Reminder: DCC Meeting this Sunday

Just a reminder: Our monthly meeting is this Sunday at Sign of the Whale in DC.

Come by starting at 5:30 and you'll see us all gathered in the front most likely, talking comics, the San Diego Comic Con news, and whatever else strikes our fancies.

Wondering who might be there? Check out our "Faces to Names" thread on the Message Board.

Quick Web Roundup

Just some quick links to DCC related areas of the web:

First up, our own Chris Piers got interviewed by the Examiner about the class on Writing Comics he teaches, his creative process, and even manages to plug the DCC.

"The most difficult part of writing comics is forcing yourself to write the first draft. There's always a temptation to edit or perfect the story as you write, but that's a mistake. You end up procrastinating and it's never perfect anyway. There are numerous short exercises you can find online or in creative writing books to help come up with ideas."

Next is a review of our first Anthology book "Wonders of Science" at Indy Comic Review.

"For fans of well-written fiction of any stripe, The Wonders of Science can't help but appeal."

Sam Koi, still swimming along

Sam Koi: Whhaaa?

Sam Koi is a sporadic series of short stories all about 'a small fish in a big world'. The writer, Rhiannon Thumma, and I are hoping to have a collection of four or five Sam stories along with some extras available at SPX this year.

We just launched the 3rd story a few weeks ago, enjoy!

February Meeting, Sunday Feb 22

Our February meeting date has been set for Sunday February 22nd. It's an Arlington month, so we'll be at O'Sullivan's on Washington Street in Arlington.

Come on by, have a drink and talk comics!

January meeting this weekend

We're braving the inauguration traffic and crowds this weekend to hold our monthly meeting at RiRa in Bethesda.

As always, it starts around 5:30. Hope to see you there to talk comics, the election, and whatever else comes up.
