Sketches

While doing some warm-up sketches today I decided to try something different, the old spit and smear technique with a pencil. Thought they came out kinda nice. I added a few highlights with a white-out pen to make them pop, and Sarah has a touch of color from photoshop.

'Trickster' now available!

Trickster, the 232-page, full-color anthology of Native American trickster stories--featuring a slew of D.C.-area artists--is now available at bookstores, Amazon.com and other establishments. Here's a sample page:

Big Planet Comics in Vienna, Va., will host a launch party on Sat., May 15, 2-4 p.m., that will include about 10 of the contributors. Come get your copy signed, mingle, be merry! If you plan to go, you can sign up at Facebook here (just so the store has a rough idea of how many folks to expect). Thanks for your support!

Old Techniques and New Techniques

Recently I have been experimenting with using Guache. I like it a lot and have been having fun with it. I enjoy how it can be treated like watercolor but will also give you rich colors as well.

I also took a class in digital illustration and got the chance to use a Cintique. I have also been playing around with my Intuoso at home trying out digital drawing and inking.

Andrew and I had a fun and successful time.
It was a great show and they fit a surprising amount of vendors into the Velvet Lounge.
A good event over all. Looking forward to doing it again.
