WARNING! spoiler alert?

So, there I was, desperately trying to figure out how to get Blogger to list posts in reverse order (oldest at the top — it's part of this redesign project I'm working on... don't worry, you'll hear more about it later), and I was Googling "blogger hacks," and I came across someone who hadn't done that, but instead had figured out a way to list the archive links in alphabetical order, which wasn't what I needed, but I emailed him and he took the time to email me — a complete stranger — back.

And that's where he mentioned that he developed his alpha hack for a group blog about comics: Spoilt! And at first glance, I thought, "meh... it's all Marvel and DC. Who cares?" But then I read their manifesto:

"Why do this? Why spoil comics for readers? Because we disagree with the growing emphasis on superhero "universes" and event-driven writing and marketing. Because comics are too expensive to buy just because a crossover tells you you should. Because sometimes you just want to know why fans are up in arms this week. Because it costs too much to follow characters you love through ten titles a month.

Because a good comic is still a good read even if you know what happens."

Amen to that. Bram and I have a ton of comics (well, mostly Bram), and I enjoy re-reading them. Any foreknowledge of the plot in no way diminishes my enjoyment of the writing and the art. So, check out Spoilt!, or don't.

But it never hurts to remember to be good enough that people will want to read you, even if they already know what happens.

Hey, BTW did you ever figure out how to post in reverse order? I've been unsuccesfully trying to figure that out as well. If you do, let me know! Thanks!

Yeah, I did find a way to do it. Or, rather, I found someone else's way to do it, that they had kindly posted for clueless people like me to use.

Here's the link. It was hard to find, but pretty easy to implement. Hope it works for you!

It is a big honkin' piece of code, though. I don't know enough about JavaScript to be sure if it's as bloated as it seems, but I just have this creeping feeling that there must be an simpler way to do it.

Then again, I also have this creeping feeling that I'm going to win the lottery and be able to sit around eating bonbons and watching Battlestar Galactica all day.

And I have a creeping feeling that if you win the lottery you're going to have the DC Conspiracy relocating itself to Santa Fe.
