The Silhouette

First off, I’d like to say that it’s been a hell of a week. When I read earlier this week that Batman artist Jim Aparo had died, I was left with this feeling that an old friend I’d grown up with would never be heard from again. I’m sure some of you aren’t familiar with the name, but having drawn Batman longer than any other artist in modern history, his drawings were the definitive image for the caped crusader.

Also, as we speak Jeff and his wife are in the hospital, either preparing or recovering from the arrival of their twin girls. I talked to him last night, and they are both excited and terrified. I have two kids. I know exactly what they are going through. He said that he looked forward to seeing the group again sometime in the future, and that he hoped that you were all doing well. Just thought I’d keep you abreast…

I took the kids to the beach last weekend, and was amazed to see my 6 and 8 year olds bodysurfing. The immeasurable amount of my children’s talent is completely amazing.

Also, I decided to start inking the pages that I’ve been working on recently. I managed to knock out 3 pages so far this week, which is really exciting. I thought I’d share one with you guys. Since the main elements of our book is still very “hush hush” I can’t explain the setting, but I was really happy with the way this silhouette came out. Take a peek.

Sorry I missed the meetup. Couldn't be helped. I hope you all had several beers for me. Cheers!
